Fairy Tail Chapter 390 Review - The Story of a Boy

Written by: Shiggins

And our plot twist is revealed... but it's not as obvious as we thought it was!

After we see a page reminding us of the death of Gray's father at the hands of Deliora, we come to the big spooky scary reveal that everything person saw coming a billion miles away....Silver tells Gray the "I am your father" line from Star Wars! As Gray plays Luke Skywalker, telling Silver "that's impossible", Silver deflects any magical attacks that Gray throws at him. And then of course, Silver starts laughing his cold ass off as Gray gets more and more angry. This is when things get weird and interesting however, because Silver seems to be saying that although he is Gray's father, he is also someone else who Gray is destined to fight.

Oh dear... My Star Wars juices are flowing...

Bleach 586 Review - "The Headless Star 5"

Bleach 586 Review - "The Headless Star 5"
Written by: ClayDragon

Looks like the band's all back together again.

As the six Soul Reapers prepare to battle the remaining Sternritter, Bazz-B counts them and asks Commissioner Quincy if any of them are part of the special war potentials. Upon realising that they aren't, he declares that he hasn't got time to mess around and pulls out his bow and arrow.

NARUTO Chapter 682 : I'm sure you've never seen this

Written by FrillyPhoenix

Just when I thought that NARUTO had reached the bottom,
Kishimoto proves me wrong again : it can go much lower than that.
At least, this week I both facepalmed AND smiled, which wasn't the case last week.
We're making progress !

I can't even come up with a witty line to comment that mess, so many things are wrong *sigh*...

Naruto Shippuden - What I Think

Written by: Shiggins

So we all know about Naruto. It’s why you come to this blog and it’s constantly talked about in half our lists and stuff. In fact, Naruto is the reason I got into anime and manga in the first place. Maybe one day I’ll tell that tale but for now, I’m going to talk about the anime itself. Or more specifically, I’m going to talk about the Naruto Shippuden anime.

Actually, I’m going to answer the big question right now. The anime is quite bad. There, I said it and you already know it. However, I notice people never really look at the anime subjectively and instead just hate everything about it. It’s why I’m here. To put it simply, I’m going to look at each main category of anime (animation, music, story, openings and endings and the others), and see how Naruto Shippuden holds up.

Note: Some spoilers for Naruto. Duh.

"Shippuden" actually means "Hurricane Chronicles". That is actually very awesome.

Magi Chapter 230 Review

Written by: Micha

What in god’s green erf just happened? I knew Magi is fucked up, but…

Okay, before I ramble, let’s start with the review.  This chapter starts with where they left off in the previous one. Solomon and the rest of Resistance arrives to their Base to discover that David had fucked them front, back and center. He had burned the whole place to the ground, resulting in many casualties that include Setta and Tess.

Although the scene was devastating, Solomon kept his composure and ordered everyone to go hunt David in the Cathedral District since they had more of their troops in there. This, by the way, is the first ever intelligent decision Solomon has taken during this short war, considering his last strategy got him shitty results.

In the midst of war and chaos, Solomon finds a brain.

Fairy Tail Chapter 389 Review - The Twin Dragons vs The King of Hades

Written by: Shiggins

Well, that wasn't bad at all. Could have been worse.

So now the duo of Sabretooth are back, standing before the blandness that is Mard Geer. We then see a flashback from ages ago when Erza said she would send a letter to Sting to let him know about Minerva joining a Dark Guild (Succubus Eye). Apparently, the letter was very vague and poorly done, so the duo had trouble finding the place. I find that odd because the whole world should know about a giant cube destroying buildings but I digress. They are now here to take Minerva back (for literally no reason whatsoever!) and defeat Mard Geer.

Isn't that kinda like the frog calling the grass green?

Kuroshitsuji Chapter 94 Review - That Butler, Enraged

As you can tell by the title, Sebastian isn't happy this week. I am though.

So today, we start off with meeting the weirdo in the blindfold who also known as the Queen's footman who is also known as John Brown. After a suggestion that John Brown walked to Germany rather than let his horse have to carry him, he tries to go to Ciel to deliver the letter but unfortunately, he's unable to do so since Ciel is ill. Since this is an urgent letter, John Brown has no choice but to give it to Sebastian, who gives a very surprised reaction to it. And with that, John Brown leaves.

I wonder if that counts as breaking the 4th wall.

NARUTO Chapter 681 Review : Kaguya's Tears

Written by FrillyPhoenix

This chapter is one of those chapters that make you scream
"I've been waiting a whole week for THAT ?!"
I wouldn't even call it a chapter honestly.
But since I am paid have to review it, I'll keep it as short as possible.

What is happening this week ?

Nothing. Like really. Nothing happens this week. It's just a chapter of Explaination-no-Jutsu that Kishi made up on the spot when he realized that nothing made sense in his story anymore.

Chapter starts with Naruto and Sasuke being thrown away after attacking Kaguya (in the previous chapter).
In the meanwhile, Naruto's clone uses that time to rescue Obito who was still pinned on the wall.

Naruto (the real one) creates a little platform for Sasuke to stand on with one of the black balls flying behind him (the same as the So6P's). But Kaguya sneaks behind them using some kind of other dimension thingy à la Kamui.

The only panels of this week that are worth being looked at : Kaguya, gorgeous as f*ck.

Bleach 585 Review – “The Headless Star 4”

Bleach 585 Review – “The Headless Star 4”
Written by: ClayDragon

Not quite what I was hoping for, but still awesome.

Noticing the column of light that appeared at the end of last week’s chapter, Ichigo turns around to investigate when he hears Yhwach’s voice. It appears that Ichigo can hear what he says despite them being a great distance apart – probably due to Ichigo’s Quincy blood. Yhwach clarifies that the ‘one who led them to light’ was not Aizen or Uryu as I expected, but Ichigo himself.

Magi Chapter 229 Review

Written by: Micha

Well, that was a fairly short chapter, and nothing surprising happened either. But I’m grateful, nonetheless, that things are moving forward. So before I ramble, let’s get started with the chapter.

This chapter starts from last week’s cliffhanger. David traps Solomon and the other magicians in an extremely powerful borg, and then raids their base full of children, women, and medics. The only worthy magician guarding the base was Setta, which would mean that he would have to fight 12 Divine Staves and David all on his own.

We see Tess crying for help as a smoke screen surrounds him, and everyone inside the borg starts panicking like nuts. Falan seemed quiet yet petrified, but this will be compensated for when she goes apeshit later in the chapter.

This is just the beginning.

Fairy Tail Chapter 388 Review - Erza vs Minerva

And Minerva is dead. To me, at least.

So this week starts off with Wendy, Carla and Doranbolt looking in horror at all the Face bombs that are going to go off soon. Wendy however, refuses to lose hope and strengthens her resolve to keep trying, even doing the classic "cut hair to symbolise resolve" tactic. (That would be almost ineffective if the character was male). And then of course, it's time for the title itself. We go to see Erza vs Minerva.

Who wore it best?

NARUTO Chapter 680 Review : Once Again

Written by FrillyPhoenix

This week, Kishi decided to take yet another shit on SasuSaku,
in case you didn't get it from the previous chapters that the ship has sunk.
Oh and more biblical references... You never get enough of those.

What's happening in this chapter ?

Last week, the chapter ended at the part where everyone was going to fall into the lava summoned by Kaguya. So this chapter begins with that.
Kakashi has the time to analyze the situation quickly and understands it is no Genjutsu, the lava is real.
Sasuke summons his hawk and grabs Naruto, who tries to get him to save their other team mates instead.

But Kakashi, as quick and efficient as ever, (somehow) manages to save Sakura and himself without their help. He uses a scroll and a kunai to do so, and he even saves Obito's unconscious body (his hand gets crucified → Obito in Jesus mode). Kakashi does feel sorry for Obito about that, but desperate times calls for desperate measures.

I bet you weren't expecting to become Jesus literally when you were playing the messiahs, Obito.

*Except Askin. The lazy sod.

Finally, we’re getting somewhere.

As Ichigo’s Getsuga Juujishou flies towards Candice, she proclaims that she’s not going to take it, and gets ready to fire another attack at it. Realising how powerful his attack is, Ichigo yells at her to dodge it, but he ends up being too late. Meanwhile, on top of the Vandenreich’s palace, Yhwach asks Haschwalth for a key. Haschwalth pulls out his sword and points it to the sky, creating a five-pointed star of light centred on the tip of his blade. Yhwach then decides to thank the one who led them to the light.

Magi Chapter 228 Review

Written by: Micha

The war has finally begun, and this chapter has a few interesting twists that I can’t wait talk about. But first, let’s start with the chapter. Setta, the ravishing dude with the glasses, is in charge of guarding the base of Resistance, where all woman, children, and paramedics are residing.

He sees Tess crying in a corner, overwhelmed with guilt for telling his parents to go and die for all he cares. He said it out of rage, and obviously didn’t mean any of it. Setta reassures him that his parents weren’t going to die, and neither would Ithnan. Which makes me believe that Setta spends a good amount of time in terms of Ithnan, and worrying about him, especially now since Ithnan and the rest of the magicians were off to fight David and the Orthodox.

This little piece of shit doesn't deserve to be touched by the holy hands of Setta.

Fairy Tail Chapter 387 Review - Father and Son

Written by: Shiggins

Well, I have been severely trolled this week!

If you've read this chapter, chances are you walked away disappointed, confused and irritated. I know I did. With a title like "Father and Son", we all expected the pages of this week to focus on Gray and Silver, who are clearly the aforementioned father and son. And the thing is, this chapter started with promise. We were finally getting down to hardcore action with this 4 vs 4 battle. And the big surprise for me was that Gray actually knows Silver and isn't happy to see him. I would have thought that Silver's reveal would shock Gray to his core and we'd have a big emotional confrontation. I'm guessing the confrontation will be more about Silver's actions in the past rather than who Silver is, which actually might be preferable now that I think about it.

Has anybody else noticed that Silver never changes his expression? He is always smirking!

NARUTO Chapter 679 Review : The beginning of everything

Written by FrillyPhoenix

Sorry for being late for this one...
This week's chapter is a new lesson of sciences brought by Kishimoto-sensei :
you can create a woman when mixing two men.
Mathematics were right all along : negative * negative = positive.

This is this chapter's best element : the opening color spread.
Kishi likes RPGs, especially Dragon Quest. I guess this is his way to share it with his readers.

Bleach 583 Review – “The Headless Star 2”

Bleach 583 Review – “The Headless Star 2”
Written by: ClayDragon

Filler, but funny.

After the four Femritters have decided to attack Ichigo, we get a brief montage of them all firing their arrows at him. As soon as the arrows get close to him, the action zooms out to show several nearby buildings being destroyed. When the action focuses back on the fight, it turns out that not only did Ichigo dodge the arrows, he managed to throw Candice into another wall – followed swiftly by Giselle, Meninas, and Liltotto.

Magi Chapters 226 and 227 Review

Written by: Micha

I’m aware that I failed to review the last week’s chapter. The truth is I have moved in to another country, and it’s been incredibly hectic. Therefore, I will briefly highlight the things that happened last week before I review today's chapter. I won’t go in to detail. No, I won’t torture you like that.

If you don't want to read the review of 226, just scroll down to 227. I could've skipped the review of last week's chapter but I felt chapter 226 is very important.

Chapter 226 Review

So in chapter 226, Solomon is faced with a moral dilemma regarding the issue of leadership among the Resistance. The persuasion of the species for Solomon to become their king so they can have an Illah’s proxy was so strong that Solomon had to abandon his ideals and distaste for inequality, and conform to becoming their king.

Solomon is the only dude who would pass up an opportunity like this.
