NARUTO Chapters 686 and 687 Reviews : Obito's death (+ bonus bitching)

Written by FrillyPhoenix

Okay, this week's review is gonna be a little different than usual,
and since I was too upset to write one last week,
I'm going to make up for that by doing a double review which I'll call...
OBITO'S DEATH SPECIAL REPORT !
I'll also be bitching about some other stuff, but you'll see.

Yes, I am one week too late to post this picture and I feel no shame.

Bleach 591 Review – “Marching Out the ZOMBIES 2”

Bleach 591 Review – “Marching Out the ZOMBIES 2”
Written by: ClayDragon

Oh my shit.

Upon seeing the resurrected Arrancar, Ikkaku and Yumichika have a somewhat understandable reaction. Ikkaku recalls fighting Luppi in the World of the Living, and Yumichika remembers killing Charlotte. However, when Charlotte sees Yumichika again, he tries to remember his name, before failing and claiming that he can’t remember the names of ugly people. As expected, Yumichika takes this less than well and is ready to attack Charlotte himself before Ikkaku stops him.

Magi 233rd Night Review

Written by: Micha

We are screwed. So, so screwed. Have you read this new chapter? This one made me question every seemingly plausible theory that I have ever cooked up. And the level of sweet deception Ohtaka brought with this one feels incredible to my masochistic soul.

After Solomon tore the rukh  from “ill-illah” and distributed them among everyone equally, it is only a matter of how the people would perceive Solomon’s debatable actions. They did not like it. And despite Sheba’s attempts to convince the people that Solomon had done it to make them all equal, they stood unfazed.

Ithnan, someone whom we had already predicted to fall in to depravity since he ended up in Al Thamen, says that now that Ill-Illah had been sealed it was impossible for the magicians to use magoi as they did before. The magicians could now only utilize the little magoi that was within them, and it certainly wasn’t enough to counter if the other species were to attack them again.

Why do unimportant people always look ugly in this manga?

Fairy Tail Chapter 394 Review - Juvia vs Ki-su

Written by: Shiggins

Or "Keith" if you want the spooky necromancer to sound like your next door neighbour.

So the chapter focusing on the fight between Juvia and Ki-su begins with Natsu punching Tempesta but it has no effect. The same is happening with Gajeel and Torafusa!. We then go to our center of the week, Juvia who is unable to hear Silver's voice right now and is worried about hurting Gray by defeating Ki-su which will cause Silver to disappear. (A nice wee summary if you had forgotten about last week.)

Don't ignore her, Silver! Keep talking to her!

Hunter X Hunter - What I Think

Written by Shiggins

Hunter X Hunter, the famous series written by Yoshihiro Togashi (also well-known for creating YuYu Hakusho), is an epic Shonen series that was first released in 1998, and is about famous Hunters who travel the world for treasure or adventure or money. It has earned itself a reputation over the years as a classic, and yet I constantly meet anime fans who have never properly sat down to watch/read this series or found a real reason to do so.

So I’m going to do my part and give the reasons to both like and dislike this series by talking about certain categories: Story, Characters, Dialogue, Action and Others.

Note: Minimal-spoilers ahead. Nothing too serious though.

No, I don't know why it's called that either. (I do have a theory though...)

Bleach 590 Review – “Marching Out the ZOMBIES”

Bleach 590 Review – “Marching Out the ZOMBIES”
Written by: ClayDragon

Today is a good day.

After noticing that Kurotsuchi has arrived on the battlefield, Giselle tells him that she can’t properly see him due to how much light he’s emitting. Meanwhile, Ikkaku and Yumichika are still lying in the rubble, and they note that they could only tell that it was Kurotsuchi due to his voice (and unique fashion sense). Before anyone can attack, Bambietta steps in front of Giselle in order to protect her.

Magi 232nd Night Review

Written by: Micha

Well, this was one hell of a chapter. Can you handle the amount of spirituality this one contains? This chapter was so religious, and overwhelming I think I’m going to need therapy after this. This chapter solves a quite number of mysteries that we’ve been pondering for a while; including the riddle of the black rukh, and “Destiny”.

Continuing from the last chapter, Arba gets incredibly upset from witnessing that David had been stealing magic from Ill-Ilah as we know that she is very devoted to God. Ugo also seems to agree that David was arrogant for stealing magic from God, while Solomon tries to reason why David had wanted him to see the place.

This panel is insight to what stimulates Arba the most.

Kuroshitsuji Chapter 95 Review - That Butler, Disappointed

Written by Shiggins

Some beautiful pages this month.

4 reviews in 2 days?! Are you shitting me?! I have done 4 reviews in less than 48 hours! Holy hell, that's a lot! Manga is showing me no fucking mercy, is it?! I mean, I have a life! I'm meant to have one at least! Instead, it's review after review! I swear, I'm scared for next week because something else is probably going to pop up out of nowhere! I'm just lucky that most of these chapters have been so good! Including this one! Anyway, here! Now, no more reviews from me for another week! I earned it!

Bad touch! Bad touch! I need an adult!

Tale of Fairy Tail: Ice Trail Chapter 1 Review - The Young Boy's Name

Written by: Shiggins

*sigh* Let's get this one over with.

I hope you people appreciate what I do for you! This is my third review in one day! I don't get paid for this and I rarely get engaging conversation over these chapters or articles but whatever! Nobody cares about me, right?! I bet you just think "Oh, he probably likes doing reviews." Well, I do like it but that's not the point! And now I'm stuck here reviewing what I honestly consider the biggest waste of time that Fairy Tail could have given us! So chances are I won't review the next "Ice Trail" chapter because honestly, I found this one bloody boring!

Although I will admit, I did like this cover.

Fairy Tail Zero Chapter 1 Review - Fairies In Your Heart

Written by: Shiggins

HOORAY! THE PREQUEL HAS BEEN RELEASED!

If you're aren't aware yet, Fairy Tail have released their own magazine! Along with this new magazine are 4 spin-offs and at the time of writing this review, two of them have started. The first one, which you are reading now, is a prequel series called Fairy Tail Zero and features none other than Mavis Vermillion and her journey to create Fairy Tail! Out of every spin-off, this has been the one I've been most excited for and thankfully, it didn't disappoint.

I love you, Mavis.

Fairy Tail Chapter 393 Review - Silver Memories

Written by: Shiggins

He is who we thought he was but not who he made us think he was!

Or to put it simply, Gray was right at the end of last week. Silver is Silver Fullbuster, not Deliora. Silver reveals that this whole time, he wanted Gray to kill him and has been waiting for this day. Not only is he not human, he isn't a demon. The truth is, and this is my favourite twist involving Silver so far, he is a corpse reanimated by Ki-su! Ki-su the necromancer did all this to Gray! I love it! It makes sense, it was hinted at earlier, it gives us more time with Silver after the ball in the belly and it means... Well, we'll get to that last part later.

Wait... How old does this make Gray? What age was he when Silver died? Does this include the timeskip?

Bleach 589 Review – “The Old and New Trust”

Bleach 589 Review – “The Old and New Trust”
Written by: ClayDragon

About time!

Whilst sitting inside a giant cannon in the basement of the 12th Division Institute, Ichigo asks Urahara when he built it. Urahara replies that it was almost finished when he joined the project, as when Squad Zero came down to the Soul Society Kurotsuchi decided to make a cannon himself. He then goes on to say that since he didn’t have Kukaku’s input, the cannon isn’t perfect, and that it will break after one use.

NARUTO Chapter 685 Review : Everything I've got...!!

Written by : FrillyPhoenix

There is no word in the world that can describe
the level of fangirlism this chapter made me reach.
I hope Kishi knows what he is doing and maintains that level of quality in the future.
Be prepared for some Frilly wet panties !

What is happening in this chapter ?

When I first read this chapter, I really thought it was fanmade (just like the infamous chapter 661.2).
But nope. All this goodness is for real. I'm not dreaming.

Same sleeveless arm... Obito ended up shirtless... you better get ready Sakura.

Bleach Anime Review

Bleach Week – Bleach Anime Review
Written by: ClayDragon

“We stand in awe of that which cannot be seen.”

I like Bleach. If you haven’t noticed that by now, then you must be either brand new or very unobservant. In fact, Bleach was the first anime series I watched that made me think that I could enjoy other series. It wasn’t the first series I watched (that honour goes to Death Note), but before Bleach I always had the feeling that the series that I had watched before were special cases, and that most anime shows wouldn’t interest me. So, in honour of the anime that really got me into anime, and to celebrate the final day of Bleach Week, I decided to do a review of the Bleach anime.

Hold on to your hats.

Fairy Tail Chapter 392 Review - You Must Not Forget

Written by Shiggins

So... we were right? We were wrong? What?!

Alright, let's just start from the beginning. More time with Wendy and Face, who have not actually moved since we last saw them. (A bit weird but let's just accept it.) Wendy has decided that she wants to join the others who are still fighting Tartaros, which is also surprising because I thought her big time in this arc was done. I'm not complaining though. Anyway, Wendy also reveals she wants to use Warren to contact the other guilds which is also odd because I would have thought they would know about all of this happening already.

Wendy in Chapter 388 and 392: Spot the difference!

Bleach: Soul Resurrección Review

Bleach Week - Bleach: Soul Resurrección Review
Written by: ClayDragon

Does Bleach’s first outing on a main series console do well?

As you may be able to tell, I’m a bit of a sucker for all things Bleach-related. So when I found out that there was a 3D Bleach game, I immediately went out and spent my hard-earned money on a nice, shiny copy of Bleach: Soul Resurrección. Given that it’s the first (and thus far, only) Bleach game on a main-series console, I was somewhat apprehensive. As it turns out, Soul Resurrección gets a lot of things right, but at the same time there are a number of glaring flaws.

Bleach 588 Review – “The Headless Star 7”

Bleach 588 Review – “The Headless Star 7”
Written by: ClayDragon

That...went to kind of a weird place.

Yhwach’s column of light continues to rise from the Soul Society, and crashes into the bridge leading into the Spirit King’s Palace. As Yhwach, Haschwalth and Uryu step out, the five members of Squad Zero react to sensing the intruders. Yhwach then notes that they’ve arrived, at which point Haschwalth says that he understands how the Emperor feels. Yhwach corrects him, saying that he feels nothing upon looking at what he sees to be a decrepit gravestone.

Top 10 Bleach Characters

Bleach Week - Top 10 Bleach Characters
Written by: ClayDragon and Shiggins

Let’s face it, one of Bleach’s most defining features is its abundance of characters. In fact, at a rough count there are 217 named, canon characters, and I’m sure there are more that I forgot to count. An amount of characters that overwhelmingly large was just crying out for a Top 10 list, so here we are: the Top 10 Bleach Characters as chosen by us. One thing’s for sure – in Bleach, there’s someone for everyone.

WARNING: Spoiler alert. You know, the usual.

NARUTO Chapter 684 Review : Must be killed

Written by : FrillyPhoenix

After hitting rock bottom with the previous chapters,
it seems that Kishimoto is finally trying to redeem himself.
And though I found most of the chapter boring,
the few interesting parts really made me look forward to the next chapter !

What is happening in this chapter ?

Chapter starts with the (not-useless-anymore) support party. Sakura is looking at Obito. As she thought (as a medic-nin), Obito's condition is so bad that he is going to die anyway, so he is willing to die doing something useful : rescuing Sasuke.
He asks Naruto's clone and Sakura to touch his body so he can use their chakra to Kamui himself and Sakura to join Sasuke in Kaguya's dimension.

Said in an other context, this could have a whole different meaning...

Symbolism and Mythology in Bleach

Bleach Week – Symbolism and Mythology in Bleach
Written by: ClayDragon

Like many manga series, Bleach draws heavily on religious and cultural symbolism that is common knowledge in Japan. In fact, it even won the Shougakukan Award, which is given to manga series that highlight Japanese values and culture (some other notable winners include InuYasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic). However, the downside is that foreign readers who aren’t clued up on Japanese folklore can completely miss the references (at best), or see them as confusing or out-of-place (at worst). As such, I figured it’s time to write an article in order to enlighten people.

WARNING: Spoiler alert (as usual).

Do I even really need to say this any more?

Top 10 Zanpakuto

Bleach Week - Top 10 Zanpakuto
Written by: ClayDragon and Shiggins

Kicking off Bleach Week, we have a list of the Top 10 Zanpakuto seen in Bleach. Zanpakuto are sentient swords that can change their appearance, abilities and power depending on whether they are in Shikai mode or the more powerful Bankai mode. Given that Bleach has a large amount of characters, many of whom have their own Zanpakuto, there were a lot of contenders for this list.

As is this the case with many of these lists, SPOILER ALERT. You have been warned.

Magi 231st Night Review

Written by: Micha

After being on break last week, Magi is back with a new chapter that is exciting and definitely worth the wait. This chapter begins with Solomon waking up after his battle with David, although if you recall, there weren’t much of a resistance from David. You can almost say that Solomon and his army won because David committed suicide.

But keeping that aside, Solomon has woken up from a slumber of apparently two days. Solomon was heavily wounded and Sheba warned him not to move around since they were barely able to keep him together with magic. Solomon then wonders about the magicians who fought in the war.

The next panels shows the aftermath of the war, which I highly suspect will be a huge problem that will contribute to a lot more conflict that’s coming. It seems that the spirits of the magicians have been severely burdened by their families and loved ones’ death when David had gone Hitler on Solomon’s base.

The other species were excited about not having to spend their days confined in their barriers with their loved ones, who by the way are not dead as opposed to the magicians’ families, and seeing them all cheerful made the magicians even more depressed.

"Our families are dead. How could they be...horsing around like that?"
No? Really? Okay.

Bleach Week Introduction

Bleach Week Introduction
Written by: ClayDragon

For those of you who missed last week’s Bleach review, you’re probably unaware of the fact that I declared this week to be Bleach Week. I did say that there’s no real reason for it, as every Bleach milestone or anniversary occurs during term time at university, but as it turns out, this post is Otaku Nuts’ 300th post, so what better time to start a week-long run of anime-related articles?

And instead of a proper article, you get this crappy introduction. Just like Naruto filler!

Fairy Tail Chapter 391 Review - Gray vs Silver

Written by: Shiggins

This is one of those chapters I can't really talk too much about sadly.

So yes, the title is the entire chapter. There are no moments where we see what Wendy's team or Erza's team are doing, because it's all a big battle chapter. This is one of those chapters that works better when you read it alongside other chapters, but not when it's alone because it is just full punching and taunting and such. To call it a bad chapter would be harsh. It's an okay chapter. Gray attacks "Silver" with his usual ice attacks and Silver responds with his own powers, destroying Gray's ice with ease and smacking Gray about for fun.

Gray is giving us a glimpse of his love for flowers this week.

NARUTO Chapter 683 : I had the same dream as you

Written by FrillyPhoenix

It felt really weird to read this chapter, dunno why.
Almost like I'm reading a whole different manga.
But there are some positive things this time. FINALLY.
There are still a lot of flaws though.

So, what's happening in this chapter ?

This chapter starts with Sasuke and Naruto getting separated. Naruto tries to keep open the portal Kaguya used to teleport Sasuke, but fails.

Black Zetsu is the one commenting the fight, this week, as Kaguya uses another portal to get Naruto by using her arm only this time, but Naruto manages to avoid getting caught. She then uses the portal to hide her whole body and get closer to Naruto without him being able to tell where she'll appear next.
The next panels are (purposely) confusing, and show the nature attacking Naruto with storm and snow.

Did I tell you about Tajū Alzheimer no Jutsu ? Very useful technique to waste 2/3 of a page.
This will be on the next test, so make sure to take notes.

Bleach 587 Review – “The Headless Star 6”

Bleach 587 Review – “The Headless Star 6”

Written by: ClayDragon

And hilarity ensued.

Seeing that Uryu is preparing to leave with Yhwach and Haschwalth, Ichigo screams at him to explain what’s going on, but the three Quincies depart without saying a word. Ichigo flies after them in order to confront them, but is stopped by Orihime when Yhwach creates a massive shockwave. Thankfully, Chad and Orihime reach Ichigo in time, and Orihime creates a shield to protect them from harm.
