Magi 236th Night Review

Written by: Micha

You know what really disappoints me? Late translations. You know what disappoints me even more? Fucking late translations. On Friday, really? The raw has been out since Monday. But that’s the price you pay for being in a non-mainstream fandom, I suppose. And not understanding Japanese.

Last chapter ended with Solomon sealing Al Thamen and Ill-Ilah’s power in a different space. This had taken a toll on Solomon’s body, consequently leading him to his death. The war has also caused the destruction of the ecosystem; with the wiping out of plants and animals or anything that can sustain life. And unfortunately left the spirits of the species and other people crushed with the death of their king.

Ugo upon witnessing this, tried to come up with a solution considering he was the only one out of his friends alive. He proposed that they live underground and continue to survive. He promised that he would come up with a solution since he was smart.

That self-esteem.

NARUTO Chapter 690 : Ninja's...

Written by : FrillyPhoenix

This is the end, hold your breath and count to ten ♪...
...pages and the war arc is over.
Yes, all this shit for over three years and it took one chapter to end it all.
However, let's be positive ! No more Kaguya ! No more war !

What happened in this chapter ?

Well, there are two main things to talk about in this chapter: "no more Kaguya" and "yay ! you saved the world !", which is why this chapter is being literally destroyed on every NARUTO forum that I've seen... but I digress.

This week's chapter starts with Kaguya making the funniest face she possibly could upon being sealed by Naruto and Sasuke...

Perhaps the moment his wife called him for dinner..?

No, I have absolutely no idea what this chapter name refers to.

Aren’t workplace romances the best?

Before I start the review, I should explain why the manga schedules have been a bit erratic lately. Basically, we actually get to read the manga before Japan does, as the chapter are sent out early to stores, and some employees upload them online before they’re actually sold. Of course, as you may expect the Japanese government aren’t too keen on that, so they’ve changed things so that the time difference between the manga getting delivered and it getting sold is shortened (because they obviously have nothing better to do than to regulate the sales of comic books). Essentially, expect the manga schedules – and, by extension, our reviews – to change days.

Fairy Tail Chapter 397 Review - Steel

Written by Shiggins

If anybody was expecting a proposal in this episode, just leave now.

After Levy sacrificed her air last week to Gajeel in the most romantic and fan-squealing way possible, she seems to be unconscious. Gajeel then roughly wakes her awake (like a real man does with a lady), and insists she give him more air. As Levy is unable to speak in water, she's just thinking how she can't because of course, she hasn't got much left. Gajeel then reminds Levy of something: Solid Script Magic! Levy blushes appropriately.

I love how Tumblr constantly posts fanart of Gajeel being gentle and shit, when he's literally the type to roughly shake Levy despite her probably being near-death. (I had to get Tumblr to help advertise Otaku Nuts)

NARUTO Chapter 689 Review : I like you

Written by : FrillyPhoenix

Does a good ending make up for a bad chapter ?
Usually, I would answer "no". But this time is different.
This time, Kishimoto actually surprised me in a pleasant way.
It feels like it hadn't happened in years.

If you don't get the reference, you don't deserve to be alive.

Bleach 593 Review – “Marching Out the ZOMBIES 4”

Bleach 593 Review – “Marching Out the ZOMBIES 4”
Written by: ClayDragon

Hooray for science! Magical, magical science!

Kurotsuchi begins by telling Zombie Hitsugaya that he has a number of drugs that he wishes to test out on him, and that it’s all for the good of the Soul Society. In response, Zombie Hitsugaya attempts to cut Kurotsuchi down, only for Kurotsuchi to shoot some kind of forcefield out of his wrists. Zombie Hitsugaya then moves in for another attack, but it’s easily deflected by Kurotsuchi.

Kuroshitsuji Chapter 96 Review - That Butler, Encouragement

I swear these monthly chapters are getting shorter...

Compared to recent chapters, this one was fairly predictable and straightforward, which is a shame but I suppose we can blame that on the fact that there isn't an epic dream sequence anymore. (Damn, I'm going to miss them). Anyway, our chapter starts off with a man entering a location where many books are placed and from the guard's reaction, this person is clearly "not a commoner". It's hard to tell what exactly this person was looking at, or even who he is actually. All we know is, it involves the werewolves.

I know a lot of people get turned on when Sebastian uses his teeth to take off his gloves. By Ciel's intense gaze, I'd say he's one of them.

Magi 235th Night Review

Written by: Micha

Last chapter revealed that the child of Solomon and Sheba is indeed Aladdin, which was something we had been anticipating for quite a while. It was only a matter of how Ugo was going to save Aladdin from Sheba’s dying body, and safely raise the kid in the Room of Fortitude. And thankfully, this chapter answers most of it.

If, like me, you had thought that Ugo was going to retrieve the fetus from Sheba’s body with one of his scientific techniques like a doctor with some logical process since he’s the “science otaku”, then you’re dead wrong. Fuck that shit. Ohtaka decided that Ugo is just going to take the fetus out of a dying woman, and run with it. This is the end of the world. We don’t have time for reason here, am I right?

This is totally do-able.

Fairy Tail Zero Chapter 2 - Game of Truth

Written by Shiggins

It's good to be a Fairy Tail fan. Even on holidays, we get manga.

Our monthly update of the prequel continues, in a chapter that raises a few questions but one of which I found extremely obvious but we'll get to that soon. The year is X686, 7 years after everybody died on the island, and Mavis Vermillion is 13 years old and looks exactly the same as she will when she's a ghost, which suddenly made me realise how disturbing it is that she's in the series. Think about it; The ghost of a laughing dead child stalking you? That's the start of a horror movie!

Clearly, she is the face of pure evil and perfect for a horror!

Fairy Tail Chapter 396 Review - Air

Written by: Shiggins

Am I dreaming or... DID THAT ACTUALLY HAPPEN?!

Sorry, give me a moment. Just... I need a minute here. Okay... Alright, time for this review. And damn, I liked this chapter far more than I expected! I will admit that I am somewhat biased because of a certain page in this chapter but I'm going to try to be unbiased here. And I'm also going to try to stop giggling over this because it happened so fuck you! (Also, yes, I am aware this review and chapter was late but I'm not sure why. If anybody can tell me why, please do. I'd appreciate it. Thank you.)

Come jump in!

Kaguya Ōtsutsuki - What I Think

Written by: Shiggins

Time for a spoiler-filled opinion article!

To say that Kaguya has upset the Naruto fandom is an understatement. With her appearance, Masashi Kishimoto was probably expecting gasps of shock and awe due when the long-haired babe stepped out of the shadows and caused chaos for the main characters. Instead, every fan has put on a look of confusion and groaned as they have to endure chapter after chapter of Kaguya fighting Team 7 of Naruto.

*sigh* Let's just get this one over with.

So what is it exactly that makes fans consider Kaguya “the downfall of Naruto”? Well, that’s what this article will objectively look at and see if the fans are justifiably upset or not.

NARUTO Chapter 688 Review : ...of the Sharingan !!

Written by : FrillyPhoenix

If you thought I was being bitchy last week,
wait 'til you're done reading this review.
Kakashi, you better prepare yo' ass, it's going to be rough.

What's happening in this chapter ?

TBH, I was surprised to see that Obito and Rin were still there (and I know it's stupid to be surprised at any attempt by Kishi to put more ObiRin in the manga by now). I thought they had both reached the Light for a better world in last chapter. But no. And this time, I'm not even blaming Obito for that.

Obito : "Rin, we get to appear this week again **sob** !"
Rin : "When you have as much experience in death as me, Obito,
you'll realize it is no problem to become a protagonist in this manga."

Bleach 592 Review – “Marching Out the ZOMBIES 3”

Wow. Funny to horrifying in the space of one chapter.

As he arrives on the battlefield, Zombie Hitsugaya draws the attention of everyone present, including Ikkaku and Yumichika, who can’t believe what they are seeing. Upon noticing him draw his sword, Yumichika prepares a binding spell, only to be knocked away almost instantly. Zombie Hitsugaya creates a huge wave of ice which washes over them and destroys the surrounding area (but oddly, not freezing anything).

Magi 234th Night Review

Written by: Micha

Don’t you hate it when the translations are published way later after the raw? I sure do. Especially when you’ve got a psychopath (whom I love dearly) murdering your major characters. This chapter was a tearjerker for most people in the fandom, although it didn’t faze me much because I’m not a huge Sheba fan on top of me being a stone-hearted prick.

After Solomon has been weakened, Sheba has taken the throne and started running the world because that’s just the kind of gal she is. Sheba announces that ceremony of rebirth of the world was to take place soon and everyone must pledge loyalty to Solomon. And in this ceremony, all magicians must be present, including two Magi of Alma Torran, who are Ugo and Arba.

Inviting people to your funeral, are you, Sheba?

Fairy Tail Chapter 395 Review - Extreme Pain

Written by: Shiggins

Ironic. "Extreme pain" is the title of a comedy chapter.

With Ki-su/Kieth/necromancer defeated, Juvia suddenly collapses too because of the damage she took inside his body. Lucy holds her and Juvia says she wants to see Gray right now. (Oh gee. I never saw THAT request coming from her). And then we get a glimpse of the battle between Sting, Rogue and Mard Geer where nothing new is really said. They're taking Minerva back and Mard Geer is "impressed" by their power. So basically, filler pages to remind you that those three exist in this arc.

I just realised something today. How many manga/anime show us a girl in this position from that angle?
