Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Review

Written by Shiggins

Bungle in the jungle!

In 1995, we got a film just simply called Jumanji, starring Robin Williams who got sucked into a board game as a kid and came out years later when some other kids started playing the exact same game. While it is definitely not as good as you remember, the film still had some charm and Robin Williams. So releasing a semi-sequel to it 3 years after his tragic passing felt slightly tone-deaf, as expected from a major studio. However, it's here now so no point complaining about it anymore. Instead, let's just judge it based on what it is, while also wondering why they didn't just change the name and save themselves the bad publicity.

No credit for the gator? Typical Hollywood!

Star Wars: The Last Jedi - Spoilers Review

Written by Shiggins

The Force Returns!

To kick off this new decision of making movie articles, I feel it is only fair to review the film that finally made me take the leap; The Last Jedi! Sequel to The Force Awakens and a direct continuation of Rey's story, this film has immediately gotten both love and hate from audiences so it is definitely worth talking about.

Note: Full SPOILERS below. Since every other review out there is spoiler-free, and there are important scenes we need to discuss.

Warning: This one is longer than I intended it to be. Most reviews won't be this big obviously, but this one is Star Wars. It will always require a lot of sentences.

Okay, apparently this is meant to resemble Vader's helmet. I don't see it though.

A Message for You All

Written by Shiggins

No, I'm not quitting!

In fact, that's one of the things I am going to talk about in this special article. After much deliberation and conflict with what I am currently doing with Otaku Nuts, I have decided that there are going to be a few improvements here or there. For more details, take a read.

Let this wise master tell you his grand plan!!! (No, this isn't about Naruto. I just like Jiraiya)

My Hero Academia Chapters 162 & 163 Review - One Who is Worthy & Smouldering Flames

Written by Shiggins

More pain, more gain!

And finally, my wish is granted as we finish off the overly-long arc by switching over to the supporting characters I have been longing for. It was great to spend time with Midoriya but the story has been a bit heavy and stuck for a while now, and we're ready to get a good laugh from the nutjob of the classroom!

Why does he look so much like Kirishima?

Top 10 Naruto Fights

Written by Shiggins

Another year, another Naruto.

To remember the reason this blog even exists, it is time to celebrate the legacy of Naruto once more with a battle list! Yes, I am writing down the top 10 battles to feature in the Naruto franchise and judging them by their variety, impact on the franchise and any other elements I think are worth mentioning.

Obviously, spoilers ahead. And canon works only. No filler here.

My Hero Academia Chapters 160 & 161 Review - Expressway & A Bright Future

Written by Shiggins

And into the night, they gently disappear...

I must say, it has been a while since Hero Academia filled me with such a wave of emotion. It hasn't been bad by any means, but I definitely was starting to feel boredom and fatigue with these villains and their one-note attitudes. Thankfully, we finally got some great intrigue, followed by a hugely tragic and inspirational goodbye...

Your hat is exceptional but you need to step up your mask game, son.

My Hero Academia Chapter 159 Review - The End!!!!

Written by Shiggins

Its over... or is it?!

Just when you thought this arc could finally take a breather and relax, a last minute twist has appeared and it looks like we could be up for at least one more big piece of bad news before the hammer drops and we can hopefully enjoy watching Midoriya go back to class. Not that this arc hasn't been really fun, but I think we're in need of a a break.

As soon as its revealed that Kurono is handsome, suddenly he appears all the time.

Top 10 Dragon Ball Super Characters

Written by Shiggins

I love Super.

Surpassing GT, the original series, and even some elements of Z, Dragon Ball Super has blown me away and I have to show my adoration of it somehow. And is there any way better than a Top 10? So without wasting any more time, here are my Top 10 characters introduced in Super.

Characters introduced in Original, Z or GT are not eligible for this list, so you won't be seeing Future Trunks or Frieza here. Also, the two newest films, Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, are being counted in Super canon so you can expect to see them appear on this list.

This group could literally get an entire arc all to themselves, and I wouldn't say a word against it.

Top 10 Fairy Tail Arcs

Written by Shiggins

Fairy Tail time!

With the series officially over, unless you go to Tumblr or Hiro Mashima's Twitter page where the love and art never stops, its time to take a look back and see which arcs did the best and which did the least-best. I waited to do this because it helps to have some perspective when it comes to a list like this, and now the time has come!

Note: Spoilers ahead. Also, only arcs from the canon manga will be counted here. So no "Key of the Starry Sky" or "Eclipse Celestial Spirits" arcs here. (Even though they are pretty damn good).

Shame we never got an arc entirely about this, isn't it?

My Hero Academia Chapter 158 Review - Chisaki's Abnormal Compassion

Written by Shiggins

Remember my complaints about flashbacks?

Well, it is impossible for me not to bring that up once again as Chapter 158 delves more into Overhaul and really goes on and on and on. On the bright side though, those that love white boxes full of text will be absolutely thrilled with this chapter!

Geez, I hope not.

Danganronpa V3 Characters: My Official Ranking

Written by Shiggins

That's right, my words make it official!

As a connoisseur of the Danganronpa franchise, I believe it is well within my right to pass judgement upon the franchise's newest instalment (spoiler alert; it's good!) and thus, it is time for me to do so... in the form of a list! Since V3 has one of the best casts of the Danganronpa series, I decided to rank the characters from worst to best. You might disagree but... well, you aren't me.

Note: Minor spoilers ahead.

I promise, this is the last Danganronpa article! ...For now. Maybe.

My Hero Academia Chapter 157 Review - Infinite 100%

Written by Shiggins

Midoriya (about to) SMASH!

Chapters like this are always quite a bugger to review. Not because they are bad or good, but because they usually just lead up to the next chapter which is when we'll see something really big and crazy! So as you read this review, keep in mind that I saw this as a set-up chapter.

When you're so angry that you literally ignore the rules of manga panels.

My Hero Academia Chapter 155 & 156 Review - Saviours, Rescuees and a Hero's Whereabouts & The Rescuee's Power

Written by Shiggins

Okay, hopefully this is the last double review for a while.

Regular weekly reviews for this series should begin as normal starting next week, as I have been neglecting the reviewing of this franchise for a while because of other responsibilities going on. Some personal, some petty. However, enough about me. Let's talk about Me... Diroya! Get it? Midoriya! But... me. Haha... Please love me.

Man, when Tumblr finds out about this guy...

Digimon Adventure Tri Part 5: Coexistence Review - Cruising for a Snoozing

Part 3 Review - CLICK HERE

Part 4 Review - CLICK HERE

Note: This review is as SPOILER-FREE as possible.

*yawn*

The penultimate entry in any series always has one goal; Build up the tension for the finale. It's not an easy job and many have failed. And unfortunately, Part 5 of Digimon Adventure Tri is so dull that I am looking to the finale of Tri (announced for Summer 2018) with nothing but trepidation. Well, only after I injected myself with adrenaline to wake up.

Girl power! Ha, if only.

Dragon Ball - Does it Still Hold Up?

Written by Shiggins

And no, I don't mean Z!

If you were to ask the average fan of Dragon Ball Z whether or not they had seen the original arcs of Dragon Ball, you'd have a 50/50 chance of being told they never have. It's not uncommon for people born in the 90s and onwards to have started at the Saiyan Saga and then never been curious enough to go back to Goku's origins. I did however, and there are quite a few surprises for someone who adores Z and Super. However, is it able to stand with the rest of the franchise?

Look at this little shit... Back when tails were the weirdest thing in Bulma's life.

Danganronpa V3 Controversy - A Response to a Past Article

Written by Shiggins

For more context, click here: Should We Be Pissed?

A few months ago, Danganronpa V3's story was leaked online and, as much as I tried to avoid it, the internet refused to bow down and made sure I got spoilers. After reading about it, I got quite a disturbing surprise and so I posted the article you can read above. However, I also pledged to make a response to the article when V3 officially came out in the UK, and so here it is. Was I wrong? Was I right? Was I left? Let's find out!

Side note: I may or may not do a full review on the game soon. You may or may not comment on that.
Note: FULL SPOILERS BELOW. DO NOT CLICK THIS ARTICLE UNLESS YOU ARE FULLY PREPARED FOR SPOILERS ON DANGANRONPA'S ENDING.

My Hero Academia Chapters 153 & 154 Review - Transform! & A Hope That Cannot Be Seen

Written by Shiggins

Fu... sion... HA!

Speaking of references to Dragon Ball Z, how cool is it to see Overhaul give himself a final form like this? It's one of my favourite anime tropes and the sheer level of this design is freaking phenomenal. I'm just getting my adoration for the final form out of the way right now because, while the chapter was good, I just can't get how cool this thing looked out of my head!

Oh... She's an albino too. Wow, the Gods didn't give her a chance, did they?

The Best Manga of 2017 that you Should be Reading, you Pickle

Written by Shiggins

I want to do some promoting.

Every year, we get new manga. Some of it I hate, like the Parasyte-esque Jagaaaaan, and some of it I love like My Hero Academia. (I review that now. Tell your friends). However, I want to take a moment to tell you all about the manga you should be reading and why it is the best manga to come out of 2017. Not only will I be telling you what is the best manga of the year, but why it is the best manga of the year. Here we go...

Top 20 Anime Villains

Written by Shiggins

I love villains.

I've made it clear before that villains are my favourite category of every genre, as proven by past articles including the recent one listing One Piece's best and worst antagonists, but that only made me want to show love towards the other shows in my life. So without further ado, I present to you the great list of anime's most brilliant, evil and ridiculous villains ever. Enjoy... and cower before their might!

My Hero Academia Chapter 152 Review - Lemillion

Written by Shiggins

I think Mirio is trying to tell us he's a hero.

The battle between Mirio and Overhaul finally comes to its tragic conclusion, although I'll admit to a surprise with the outcome. On the bright side, it was definitely an emotional event that Midoriya will never forget, and that has cemented Mirio as one of the most badass characters of MHA.

Please... no more flashbacks. I can't handle so many at once.

My Hero Academia Chapter 151 Review - Toogata Mirio!!

Written by Shiggins

Edna was wrong!

It's weird to say, but I've never seen a story actually tell me the reason a hero wears a cape. Not only did they manage to deliver a fairly badass chapter for Tintin, they had him actually fight against the will of Edna Mode as he tells us that heroes should wear capes! Pixar, we await your response!

Now THAT is worth a salute.

Netflix's Death Note Review

Written by Shiggins

In this case, is more less?

Anime has never had a bright reputation when it comes to western adaptations, mostly due to what can only be described as "softening the blow". Anime is bizarre, insane, sometimes terrifying but always capable of giving a unique storyline that most Hollywood movies would never risk trying, due to alienating general audiences who might not appreciate some of the weirdness. Director Adam Wingard, best known for 2016's Blair Witch, vowed to help change that with his adaptation of the hit classic series Death Note. That's a bold claim to make, but was he able to pull it off?

Minor spoilers ahead.

I never thought I'd say this but... the film really didn't explain the apples properly.

My Hero Academia Chapters 149 & 150 Review - Don't Be Angry, Irinaka & Mirio Togata

Written by Shiggins

My Villains Adorable.

Yes, for some reason the series is really forgetting to actually make us afraid of these Yakuza losers as the most compelling events by far are still the members of the Villain Alliance. Even the heroes, the ones we're meant to be rooting for, aren't really engaging at this time. At least we have Toga!

Something is incredibly wrong with her face here though...

Sand to Sci-Fi: How Magi Jumped the Shark

Written by Shiggins

A Magi-cal article? No? Okay...

I was a reader of Magi, as some of you may know. Unlike Micha, I was never one to drool over the chapters like they were golden hedgehogs that I could hug forever but I did make sure to enjoy it from time-to-time. So when I use the phrase "jump the shark", you know I am not jumping to say it without thought or reason. Nevertheless, here we are and here I go... sigh.

And yes, the jump is as abrupt as looking from left to right in this picture.

Fairy Tail Arc Review - Alvarez Empire

Written by Shiggins

Oh hey, another FT review!

Ever since the war in Fairy Tail started, a slight uprising of requests for a final review of this arc has been increasing. It has been a very controversial arc, especially when this was revealed to be the finale all of a sudden, giving everyone a shock and worried we'd go away unhappy. After it was all said and done however, was the arc a roaring success or a dribbling pile of excrement that has tarnished Fairy Tail's name forever?

FULL SPOILERS AHEAD

Look at all you sexy bastards... Damn. It's like the war of the supermodels.

My Hero Academia Chapter 148 Review - The Sorrows of Young Togaice

Written by Shiggins

I choose a really odd time to begin these reviews.

However, there is no point whining about how I should have waited until a new arc starts. My debut was Toga and Twice. That's good enough for me. And luckily, these two consumed this chapter with their fun banter and disturbing attachment towards each other. However, does that make this chapter good?

Top 10 Best & 5 Worst One Piece Villains

Written by Shiggins

One Piece recently had it's 20th anniversary (Christ, and it's still going on...), so it's only fair that we publish an article to celebrate the best part of the series: The villains!

However, just praising the villains isn't any fun, so let's mix it up a bit by also adding in the five worst of the bunch! But the bad kind of worst! The unlikable and annoying worst, rather than the fun kind of worst that we actually love to hate. As always, spoilers ahead!

Aww, they all look so happy at their little tea party.

My Hero Academia Chapter 147 Review - Togawice

Written by Shiggins

And I'm back!

My depression is done, for now, and I'm ready to resume reviews! While I had several choices to choose from, as you can see in this article here, I decided to go with the much-loved and awesome series of My Hero Academia! You can never go wrong with a life of reviewing superheroes, unless it's Suicide Squad because Jesus Fucking Christ... Anyway, back to weekly reviews!

Blaming an ally instead of the villain who can control the area around you... I guess Lock-Rock is a Lock-Cock.

Fairy Tail Chapter 545 Final Review - Irreplaceable Friends

Written by Shiggins

Well, here we are.

Out of curiosity, I did some maths. Beginning at Chapter 320, which was also my first article with this website, I have now reviewed a total of 251 chapters of Fairy Tail, thanks to Fairy Tail Zero, the Special Side Stories, the random Spin-offs by other artists, and of course the main series which ends today with this final extended chapter. And how was it? Well, let's find out together, shall we?

After this chapter, I truly do believe that the doors are always open as well.

Fairy Tail Chapter 544 Review - You're the King

Written by Shiggins

Pop goes the dragon!

And so we come to a close with this blasted war, an arc that I plan to review in full later on so keep an eye out for that in the near future. For now, let's focus on the ups and downs of this chapter alone and maybe together, we can figure out if this was a pile of excrement or a crown made of something that isn't excrement. Like gold. I hear crowns like to be made of gold.

Well that's.... jarring.

Fairy Tail Chapters 542 & 543 Review - Instinct & Hearts as One

My last double-chapter review of FT?

Wow, even typing that sentence was hard-hitting... Guys, I might not be calm when I write the final review. Just a heads-up. *forces a laugh to hide the tears inside* .........Sorry, I have to focus on this review! You waited long enough! I'll do as you command, sirs and m'ams!

Anime Review - BlazBlue: Alter Memory

Written by Shiggins

Requested by Anonymous!

I can't remember the last time I watched an anime that was so... anime! The series opens with an angsty man in a ridiculous outfit fighting a psycho girl with a firm behind that can transform, while Gin Ichimaru watches from afar with a smirk on his face. I was starting to feel like I was watching a stew of tropes, which is surprising because this is based on the hit fighting series of the same name.

That is one extremely messy poster.

Attack on Titan - Why It's Not Perfect

Written by Shiggins

A surprisingly difficult one.

In 2013, Attack on Titan aired their first anime season and it completely took over the world. It was chaotic and insane, with everyone unable to admit the epicness of the series. Cosplay ranged from typical Survey corps uniforms to the creepy skinless Colossal Titan trying to look kawaii (no seriously) and for a while, no other anime even bothered existing because of the tank this series was. Nobody saw any problems... but they existed. And now, we turn to them for the latest instalment in WINP! And in all honesty... this one was difficult because of how boring the series can actually be when you peel the animation and music away. I found some though!

Note: Spoilers.

If the series had pizza, THEN it would be perfect and this article could not exist.

One Piece - Why It's Not Perfect

Written by Shiggins

You know, it's a funny story but I was actually planning to write a positive article about One Piece for once, hoping to balance out how I've been towards One Piece fans since this blog began... then they pissed me off. You see, over the past few weeks in comment sections and clickbait articles and even chapter releases of Fairy Tail on manga websites, I have noticed that no fan can admit to any flaws of this series, yet will also shit on Naruto, Bleach, Fairy Tail and many others from their self-appointed throne. So because of this, the "Top 10 One Piece Villains" I had planned to release has been delayed... time for another nitpicking article instead! This one has been a long time coming and I am glad to share it today! Finally actually because I've been considering this one for months...

Why does Franky look like he's trying to eat me? And why does a pirate crew need an archaeologist like Nico Robin anyway? Is it because she's hot? I bet it's because she's hot.

Fairy Tail Chapter 540 Review - Harmony

Written by Shiggins

Slayers assemble!

Now this feels like the set-up for a final battle! It was a bumpy road to get here and even the destination itself is probably going to have some troubles, but it was hard not to at least feel some blood pumping during this big reunion of badasses!

Um... Cobra? Can you just swap places with Rogue? They need to be together, ta.

Hunter x Hunter - Why It's Not Perfect

Written by Shiggins

Hunter x Hunter is returning... again... for now!

So to celebrate the temporary return of one of the best Shonens of all time, created by the controversial Yoshihiro Togashi, I have been requested by Kudakwashe Timba to add Hunter x Hunter to my WINP schedule. So here it is, another nitpicking article by a bastard! Enjoy, comment below and try not to spit!

I'm not mentioning the hiatuses. That's a door I am tired of knocking.

Note: Some SPOILERS ahead.

Fairy Tail Chapters 538 & 539 Review - When The Flames Die & World Collapse

Written by Shiggins

Now this feels more like a final battle!

I am back from my break and ready to continue, and it is hard for me to deny a slight fanboy delight at what we got. Yes, there were flaws and of course I am going to go over them without mercy, but I couldn't help but smile while thinking about these two chapters overall. Sue me, I'm feeling optimistic for once!

Ah Tenrou Island. The arc that brought FT to a surprisingly great level of fun.

Berserk - Why It's Not Perfect

Written by Shiggins

Once again, WINP returns with our eyes set on hit dark fantasy series Berserk and what keeps it from reaching 10/10 perfection! So join me as I commit the sin of nitpicking something amazing, and you all decide to hate me for it! Links to previous WINP articles will be posted below, so please click and enjoy and hate! As a side note, we aren't even going to acknowledge the 3D animation of a certain anime...

Defending the Devil: A Kickass Character Analysis of Arba

Written by: Micha

Cunt™. That’s the most accurate word to describe Arba, from Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic.

Arba is perhaps one of the most controversial characters in this manga. She is a creation of David made to babysit Solomon well into his youth but somehow ended up as an influential villain who fucked shit up even after her “death.”

I will not hide the fact that I have, on separate occasions, licked my computer screen when she came on weekly updates. But for this article, I will leave my gay feelings at the door, and briefly list  her significant contributions, the collective fandom’s opinion of her as a character, and provide my opinions and the rating at the end. It’s all very simple.

And even though many of us may not view her with great fondness, like all characters, she deserves her day in court. And I will lawyer up to defend her honor.

Except this. I can't defend this.

Fairy Tail Chapter 537 Review (For Real This Time) - The Power of Life

Written by Shiggins

When one thing ruins perfection...

I'm serious. I freaking adored this chapter until that came up! That one moment completely broke it apart and while it isn't enough to erase all the goodwill built up by this breathtaking chapter, it really did for a lot of other people. If you want to hear absolutely zero praise for this one, don't click today. I'm going to be talking about both beauty and piss this week.

Goodnight, sweet couple. And flights of fairies sing thee to thy rest.

QUICK FIX: Origin Dragon and the World Before Alma Torran

Written by: Micha

A billion years ago, I made up a theory that Origin Dragon could have been a God from another universe. And considering the trajectory Magi is currently heading towards, I suspect we will be talking about universes a lot nowadays.

For some reason, even after 2 years, this theory has survived the test of time, most probably because we don't get to hear much from the Origin Dragon as we are currently in deep shit with Sinbad. So enjoy me going on a brief trip to lunacy as I explain why Origin Dragon was the God of the world before Alma Torran and his relationship with Il Ilah.

Why are dragons drawn pretty, what is even this manga??

Top 10 Anime Cyborgs

Written by Shiggins

Lao Tzu once said "the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step". What he failed to mention however was that sometimes you can't use your own feet, and instead must use a robotic one that you got from a mechanic or a mad scientist. And today, we're going to celebrate the people who had no other choice but to do so!

For those of you who don't know, cyborgs are living people with mechanical limbs, organs, skin or whatever else. If a character has a metal arm instead of a living one, they can be considered for the top 10. So sit back, relax, and enjoy God's greatest creation in fiction... the cyborg!

Note: This list is only counting anime series, not movies. So, there is no Ghost in the Shell.

Fairy Tail Chapter 534 Review - The Door of Vows

Written by Shiggins

No, only hurt the man! Not the woman!

Another chapter that did some things predictably and other things unexpectedly. Hopefully, we're still going the route I've been desiring this entire time, but we're currently in Schrodinger's Chapter. Next week could either go brilliantly or be a major disappointment. Let's focus on right now though.

Who wore it better?

Alma Torran Arc Review

Written by: Micha.

[Note: These reviews are a part of a series of me reviewing each and every Magi arc. Since it's ending soon, this is how I pay my respects to this precious manga. I will review each arc, give my analysis at the bottom, and the ratings.]

Fuck, man. My entire existence has led up to this. Reviewing the Alma Torran arc. This is what I want to be remembered for.

The Alma Torran Arc is huge, and we have a lot to unpack here. Long story short, it’s about Solomon, an animal rights activist, and his gang overthrowing David’s regime of intolerance towards non-human species, which later results in the birth of a new world. It’s all good, uncomplicated stuff. And you will read my analysis of this arc later in this review.

I will tell you the story of Alma Torran in 7 segments I believe are important: 1. Rescue of Sheba, 2. Origin Dragon Introduction3. Solomon Becomes King, 4. Ugo’s Magic Research, the 5. Final Fight, the 6. Aftermath of War, and finally the 7. Epilogue.

Fairy Tail Chapters 532 & 533 Review - The Love That Cannot Be Seen & Zeref, the White Mage

Written by Shiggins

Two feels for the price of one!

Yes, it has been a while since Fairy Tail gave me a touch of the feels but I'm happy to say that it got my heartstrings plucked this time. Clearly, I just needed a double-dose of action and tragedy to make me write a properly positive review again. And if the series is about to take the route I've been hoping for, we could be in for a lot more positive reviews in the near future.

One of my favourite images of all time.

Fairy Tail Chapter 531 Review - Pegasus vs Acnologia

Written by Shiggins

Everyone was right!

Who could have predicted a plan that would have ended the series in a supremely easy and cheap way wasn't going to work? All of us. All of us predicted this, so I'm just thankful they decided to end this stupid plan right away instead of waiting weeks to bring it out as a cheap attempt at tension. This is one of those times I'm so glad Fairy Tail loves a fast pace.

LET HER TRY ANYWAY, HIBIKI!

Danganronpa V3 Controversy - Should We Be Pissed?

Written by Shiggins

I love Danganronpa.

I own all the games. I have like ten waifus from the series alone, including Nagito Komaeda, Chihiro Fujisaki and even Peko Pekoyama, who has a very silly name but wears a thong and could slice me open with ease! I love this series so much, from its characters and plot twists to its themes and references, I adore the thing... but now something has come up.
